Azhar Usman - spokesman for terrorism linked Council of Islamic Organisations of Greater Chicago - jokes about blowing himself up February 2, But I'm an American Muslim. In addition to being a self proclaimed stand up comic ,Azhar Usmanis an official spokesman for the Council of Islamic Organisations of Greater Chicago and a cofounder of another Wahabist enterprise called The Nawawi Foundation. The CIOCG and it's members are part of a network of radical Islamist organisations in Ohio which are directly linked to Hamas and Al Qaeda and raises funds for convicted terrorists and other related causes.
Three months ago, several groups closely associated with the CIOGC, such as the Bridgeview Mosque Foundation were fined million dollars after being charged with the terrorist shooting death of a 17 year old American student David Boim. Judging from their present material it is only a matter of time before the Azhar Usman will have incorporated the financing of a terrorist killing by fellow Chicago Muslims into one his new routines.
MIM: The 'Allah made me funny' crew is also a hit with militant Islamist groups in the US and Canada 'Preacher Moss' a convert to Islam, is scheduled to speak at this event in Toronto whose speakers list reads like a who's who of Islamists.
Yusuf Islam, and Tariq Ramadan, who were barred from entering the US as threats to national security were also on the list of featured speakers. This will be an epoch-making event. Promoting Islamic education and building Muslim unity. Other than brief speeches, there will be Halaal entertainment and stand-up comedy.
The subject of terrorism has been a source of material for Arabs such as Chicago businessman Ray Hanania. Americans and even American born Muslims show marked cultural differences when it comes to the acceptance of suicide bombings and beheadings.
One realm where this divergence of opinion can clearly be seen is in the realm of what is being labelled "Muslim humor". Even more noteworthy is that the practicioners of such humor are self proclaimed activistswho use their comedy as a form of propaganda under the guise of "bridgebuilding".
Besides being insulting and tasteless most of the most recent Muslim 'humor' contains an element of pyschological intimidation. Muslims are in effect taunting non- Muslims with their potential to commit and condone acts of terrorism. Ashar Usman's routines "Allah made me Funny" are a case in point.
The recent controversy about " Muslims Only Day" at Six Flags is also an example of humor being used to insult non Muslims: The spokesman of the Islamic Circle of North America, Adem Carroll, had this to say about the opposition to the Muslim's only event:. The fact that western audiences are willing to accept Muslims who joke about American's fear of terrrorism and distrust of Muslims is also indicative of dhimmitude and the same scewed reasoning which prompts many of those who convert to Islam based on the conclusion that "anyone would kill themselves and others for their beliefs must mean that there is something to the religion".
MIM is providing a sample from popular Muslim humor in America. The so called 'Muslim comedians' who make militant Islamist butchery a subject for jokes are in fact condoning these acts by making them socially acceptable as an entertainment genre.
MIM: Stand up comedy is becoming a popular medium for Muslim comics and being billed as a "bridge to cultural understanding. The fact that 'comedy' act "Allah Me Funny" was endorsed by the Council for American Islamic Relations, a Saudi funded front group for Hamas, and the Nation of Islam, proves the veracity of the old adage that "there is some truth to every joke".
Muslims in America have done nothing to repudiate militant Islamists and terrorism except for issuing 'boilerplate' statements claiming they are the ones being victimised, appealing for understanding, and demanding that Americans respect their Islamic 'religous sensibilities'.
Muslim 'comedians' are adding ' insult to injury by turning the attacks into 'a laughing matter' in what can aptly be termed "sociopathic humor". Ashar Usman fans convulsed with laughter at his routine which includes jokes like :"I'm Osama bin Laden's cousin," he declared. He ruled that stand-up is allowed if it is "to make people laugh" and "accompanied by noble intentions The answer? One Muslim comic, Azhar Uzmanwas even called "praiseworthy" by an Imam discussing the permissibility of stand-up comedy in the shari'a.

All three of those are intertwined. Over the last three or four years, my stand up has taken a turn toward the more philosophical. I hope people can expect thought-provoking humor. Susan Sparks. How did that shape your comedy and what you do now? A: It promoted the idea of people from different faiths coming together to laugh together. But not everyone is full of hate. I think a lot of people are just fearful. And I think we all tend to fear that which we do not know.
And I would argue that humor and art is a great way for people to get to know each other. I read a quote that influenced my work: Politics demonizes. Art humanizes. A: Self-promotion and marketing are necessary evils of being in show businesses. You think if you are really good then people will just discover you, but the reality is — especially now in the social media age we live in with YouTube celebrities and Facebook stardom — having to self-promote is necessary, even though it works against my nature and I find it difficult.Usman, a Chicago native, has previously opened for fellow comedians including Dave Chappelle.
He also had his hand in producing several stand-up specials and has his own in the works. We had people standing in the back and I just, I love it. Usman was not afraid to push the envelope and talk about controversial topics in his comedy. He discussed topics such as racial tensions in America, depression, terrorism and Donald Trump. Most of the audience remained silent except for a lone person near the front who cheered and a select few who clapped at the comment.
Usman regularly interacted with the audience throughout the performance. The most notable time was when he recognized a woman whose cell phone began playing the Islamic call to prayer in the middle of his act. Usman, who is also Muslim, went off-track from his material to interact with the woman and incorporated the interaction throughout his performance. He also talked about his own Islamic faith, as well as other religions several times during his routine.
The comedy routine ended with an insightful message from Usman. He talked about trying to discern the difference between free will and destiny. December 23, Chicago, Illinois.Assalaamu alaikum! He surely fits the availability heuristic of a terrorist. As a result, they laugh because of incredulous surprise, and this in turn greatly reduces the overall tension in the room. Usman uses the incongruity theory in his other acts as well.
Where did that come from man? However, Azhar Usman does not limit himself to only using the incongruity theory during his acts. Many of his acts actually rely on the release theory, pioneered by psychologist Sigmund Freud, which focuses a lot on repression.
Repression: people are faced with fear and they repress whatever traumatic event causes that fear. Sigmund Freud states that this is what occurs to people all the time and that getting people to talk about these repressed thoughts later becomes extremely difficult due to that primary exposure to fear. After September 11,repression occurred not only all over the nation, but also all over the world. People were afraid.
Americans were afraid of Muslims because the alleged attackers claimed to be Muslims. A good majority of Americans displayed this fear by projecting violent hatred towards Muslims. Muslims seeing this behavior, started to fear the Americans and all that they were doing. Muslims displayed this fear by either reacting extremely or completely concealing themselves off from the outside world.
Then there were the Muslim-Americans who were stuck smack dab in the middle of the whole conundrum. Muslim-Americans had ties to both the religion Islam and American pride. They were now faced with the task of bringing light to all of the issues that neither Americans nor Muslims wanted to discuss with each other.
While all of this sounds very serious, Usman actually sheds light on these very serious matters with a lot of humor. First, he is mocking his own figure, being a bit overweight. Also, he is making fun of the fact that many people of the Indian Sub-continent are known to own 7 Elevens. At the same time, mocking his figure simultaneously makes the audience feel superior to him because a majority of them are probably not as portly as Usman, making the joke even funnier. At another point in his show, Usman was discussing treatment in airports for Muslims.
Yeah, charged of possessing Weapons of Math Instruction. However, this is done using witty, hyperbolic humor which is exactly what the release theory calls for.Comedian Azhar Usman @ Laugh Factory Chicago (10th September 2016)
Azhar Usman decided to abandon his career in law and transition to a career in stand-up comedy. That's like an ex-post facto analysis. It wasn't so much that I thought it would be good fodder for comedy. It was more like I want to do comedy and I want to talk about what really effects my life and this is what happens to be a big part of my life. As the tensions and the cultural divides and the gulfs began to grow it just so happened that talking about those things ended up having this counteracting effect on all the phobia in the country.
Can you see the audience evolve during your show?
Do they start off nervous? You can totally feel it. The most honest answer is definitely yes. Being honest is very much about exploring oneself, and it's my own personal belief that spirituality is also about exploring oneself. What isn't funny?
In a sense I do and in a sense I don't. Any topic, if you can figure out a way to make it funny, to me is not off limits.

Here's the rule I ascribe to: the level of offense that a joke might produce or does produce must be outstripped considerably by the level of funniness.
I don't like comedy that's shock comedy. I can figure out a way to make anything I want to talk about or any real problem I have, I think there's a way that I can find to make it funny. I don't have any self-imposed boundaries as far as topics.
